An Artist’s Creed

A creed, credo, is where I set my heart, cardia. It is a commitment rather than an opinion, a statement that its principles matter as much as that its principles are true. My creed is true for me and not necessarily for anyone else. I post it here now because it tells my readers who I am and it may be helpful for some in establishing their own settlements of the heart.

I am a writer and a musician, an artist. This is my creed.

My art is my spirituality, my daily practice, and my inner work.

My art is my offering and devotion to my gods, my prayer and meditation, my communion and contemplation.

My art is my vocation, my labor of love, my contribution to the good of society and of the world.

To these principles I commit myself, and by them I choose to live. So mote it be.
